Natural Surroundings is located in Bayfield Park, Holt. On the website it says that it's Norfolk's wildlife gardening & wild flowers centre and it's the correct way to describe it really. It's a delightful place where birds singing all the time as if it was an audio recording 😌
There are so many footpaths you can choose to go for a walk. I chose to go through the woods where bluebells were still out. Everything was lushy green - so refreshing even it was such a warm day. Early spring is the best time of the year really when everything has been renewed, hopeful and fresh.
The truth is English countryside is very pretty - everywhere is pretty, nature is pretty and I think I romanticise my life in the country (or not?) but I don't think there is anything wrong with romaniticising your life. I adore my life and I'm content - I have my own way to make my simple life interesting and I'm not pretending I sincerely mean it.
I don't come to live in the UK for money but for culture and lifestyle and I simply love it. I've been living in 4 beautiful counties Cambridgeshire, Somerset, Kent and now Norfolk. I worked in London and now I roam around North Norfolk countryside. for a living. I wish I took more notice living in those 3 counties, that's why now I'm trying not to take Norfolk for granted. Actually, I haven't taken anything for granted - but I've got used to it. I don't want to get used to it - this time I want to celebrate it.
I think no matter where you live, you should find something nice about it and celebrate it. Obviously, the UK is not perfect - but I love it here. My family says the same about Bangkok. They love it over there - they say they know it's not perfect but they love it they are comfortable there and I know exactly what they mean.
For me, it's nothing to do with having a lot of money but simple lifestyle. You can enjoy life in a simple way - being with nature, breathing clean air and having good health.
Most of all, appreciate what around you and be thankful for it. Thankful for what nature has provided me, my kitten is so well behave, the nice weather, the sunshine. I can go for a walk anywhere. I can walk from home but it's nice to come to walk in different places. Everywhere is beautiful, the weather is beautiful, to be alive and healthy is beautiful.
And in the UK, you have a lot of history to study. I thought this dome was something to do with septic tank but it turned out to be a historic piece from the second world war called Allan William Turret - it's a metal pillbox. I have seen many pillboxes around the countryside but they were made of concrete. I didn't realise this is one type of pillboxes - very interesting.
I don't think it was comfortable to sit inside but some people did it! - the past generation. The concrete pillbox seemed to be roomier - I think I'd prefer those ones. Oh well, another thing to be thankful for - PEACE.
There are so many trees so I don't think birds will be homeless but there are lots of birdboxes for the ones who don't want to build their own nest, I suppose.
