Snow in January

Today is my day off and nothing is better than lazing around at home. This week has been tough - the weather has been freezing. We had some snow - not much but as we're not used to it we couldn't help but moan. Today all the ice and frost has been replaced by rain water! the typical old English weather is back - cold and wet. But I'm either cold nor wet - sitting comfortable in front of the cosy steady fire with Snoopy taking up the space on the floor right by the fireplace and my belly is full of chicken and mushroom pie - I'm so comfortable and feeling so grateful for everything.

As we don't really get a lot of snow here in England so it's a kind of a hoo ha - it came on the 4th January and lasted for a couple days at which the temperature had plunged down to -6 ! That's seriously cold here. I took Snoopy for a walk after the snow had started to melt - not sure what is safer ? walking on the fluffy snow or packed ice that feels like walking on skating ring? My 11 year old dog could not even care less but I did. I can't afford to break any part of my body - it would be an utterly inconvenient - for a start, who would take me to A&E?

Luckily, we'd managed it safely. I think it would be more interesting if I went for a walk on the day the snow was still fresh but I didn't dare to take the risk.  During those few days we were advised to only take the dog out between - 09:00 to 15:00 and for only short walk.

These photographs were taken on the 5th and the 6th of January. Now, all of the lovely white snow are gone and it has been drizzling ever since I got up. To be honest, I don't really mind the weather- having lived here I've learnt to just take it as it comes.

I find footprints on the snow interesting. I wish I had more time to poke around in nature during the cold snap but I was busy working. I didn't like driving on snow either and it was worse on ice. I nearly fell over twice, walking just outside my front gate to the car and another on the footpath 😟 After that, I walked very gingerly and I wish I was a spider.

I doubt we will have any more snow but I know I'm looking forward to spring. As we are now in January we are expecting to spot the first snow drops anytime soon. How exciting!

Not that I hate winter as such - I love every season for its own sake and I love the fact that we have different seasons here. Winter is very bleak and sombre - luckily we are not in the Land of Narnia and it will soon be spring 😋 Snoopy and I are going to enjoy the rest of the winter and looking forward to the coming spring.

Isn't it pathetic though? It's only January and I've already wished for Spring ? isn't it ridiculous of me? Spring will come soon enough even I don't wish for it. What am I blabbering on about now? Anyway, Happy New Year 2026! No matter what crap is going on
out there - we are keeping our vibration high -- sending Love and Light to everyone  💖✨🌀🌈🌝🌟🌛🌞cheerio!
