(Almost) plastic free products
Just wanted to share some products I buy that contain almost zero plastic and most everything is biodegradable and recyclable. I used the words most and almost because I'm just a consumer and not an expert. Also, it's just a bit of me taking responsibility to look after the environment. Without further ado, my first product is Green & Black collection of chocolate. It comes in all paper wrappings - one box contains little different flavoured parcels of chocolate - they are all delicious. I buy one for myself and a few more for colleagues, dust bin men and my neighbour next door. It's very handy to take one or two in the pocket to go to work with and have a nibble when you feel hungry between meal.
I light my fire with matches - I've never bought those nasty plastic lighters - say never is an exaggeration for I must've bought some at some point in life but not for a very very long time. These matches is 100% biodegradable. Although, made in Sweden, Cook's matches is very English. Another cute thing about it, is the recipe on the back of the box - 💝
I find it very, very sweet. I've wondered if anyone's taken any notice of it. I certainly don't. I mean I wouldn't look for a recipe for my dinner from a match box but yes, it's there if you've run out of idea what to cook tonight. I wonder how often they change the recipe ? What I've got here is the recipe of Chicken and mushroom puff pastry - how strange! I've just had some chicken and mushroom pie earlier - still have an indigestion from it now. I didn't make it but bought it from the butcher's in town it was very nice but I ate too much of it -.
Next on the list is a pack of wooden pegs- sadly come in plastic wrapping, never mind, I will put it in the recycle bin. What can I say about wooden pegs - very handy. Not only I use them for my clothes but also to secure my roll up blinds and seal up food packages.
100% biodegradable cotton buds - nothing more to say. 😁
Nivea cream in 80% recycled aluminium tin tub - I've been using it before they put that label on the tin. I use it for my body after I have a bath - it's a bit sticky but the key is to apple it thinly when your body is still damp. Somehow, I love the smell - its strange sterile, clinically smell - I don't know how to describe it. But yes, I like it and I like that it comes in tins.
These toilet paper is great! come in paper wrapper. They do as toilet papers do. They also have ones with Aloe Vera.
Fairy washing pods - I can only wash my clothes with Fairy's as I get rashes with fancy washing liquid. I used to get annoyed with huge plastic bottles of washing liquid and softener so I'm so glad when this product comes out.
I don't wear make up. I've never done it all through my life - well, I probably put make up on a few times in my life and that was it. No offence to those who wear make up but I just don't like it. I put moisturiser on my skin and Vaseline lip therapy on my lips. This lip therapy is great and the tin is recyclable - again no plastic with lovely soft lips 😆
Dove beauty cream bar comes in paper wrapping and each soap is inside a cardboard box - no plastic wrapping whatsoever. My original Dove is the best - the smell is divine and it suits my skin - I can only use Dove. For me it's absolute luxurious. I'm just happy with simple things as you can see.
Last of all is Regina kitchen rolls - also come in paper wrapping and biodegradable. I mean, my life isn't 100 % plastic free but I recycle I reuse and I try to avoid buying single use items and if I can buy plastic free products I will.
