St. Peter and St. Paul Church

We went for a walk and visited the old Edgefield Church.
or Former St. Peter and St. Paul Church.
It's been abandoned since 1882

Now it's nothing but a ruin as they've had a new church built.
All has left is the tower and graveyard.
The tower reminds me of Rapunzel's tower.

                   

There is something romantic 

                          about old church yard.

I definitely wouldn't visit a morgue.

But I don't mind an old church yard.

There is something so peaceful about the place

where people who have long gone remain.

I don't find it's scary or spooky at all.

Especially on a very nice day as it is today.

And especially this old church.

It's very small, well kept and surrounded by lovely cottages.

Isn't it fascinated?

The dead and the living sharing the same space,

separated by time.

I wonder what it looked like then,

 before it was abandoned,

 over 485 years ago

As the record says it was build before 1540

and was closed in 1882

I thought most churches in England were abandoned

during the Black death caused by bubonic plague.

But I think it's not for this church.

According to the website below

Norfolk Churches

it was too old and in poor condition.

So they decided to build a new church.

Oh well, nevermind.

Although, I feel sorry and sad for the old church.

The old abandoned ruined church.

I love it, I'm glad I get to see it in 2025

over 485 years after it was built.

Knowing how old it is makes me love and admire it even more.
