Tuk Tuk ride to the city นั่งตุ๊กตุ๊กเข้าเมือง

Having to meet up with my cousin in the city for lunch, I had to decide how I could get there on time. I decided to take Chao Phraya Express as usual from Nonthaburi Pier to Thewes Pier and then take a Tuk Tuk to Siam Paragon where we would meet. I could actually carry on on the boat to Sathorn Pier and take BTS to Siam Paragon but I wanted to have a fun Tuk Tuk ride so I did. A must Tuk Tuk ride in Bangkok

จะต้องไปกินข้าวกับลูกพี่ลูกน้องในเมืองก็เลยต้องมาคิดให้ตกว่าจะไปยังไงถึงจะไม่สาย แล้วก็ตัดสินใจว่าจะนั่งเรือด่วนเจ้าพระยาจากท่าน้ำนนท์ไปท่าเรือเทเวศร์แล้วขึ้นตุ๊กตุ๊กไปสยามพาราก้อนซึ่งเป็นที่นัดหมาย จริงๆ แล้วจะนั่งเรือไปจนถึงสาธรแล้วต่อบีทีเอสไปสยามพาราก้อนก็ได้ แต่ตั้งใจอยากจะนั่งตุ๊กตุ๊กเอามันก็เลยว่าตามนั้น A must Tuk Tuk ride in Bangkok

Tuk Tuk used to be a transport for poor people who couldn't afford a taxi or trade people who had to carry big load of goods from market as it's more convenient to carry things in and out of a Tuk Tuk than a car. These days, Tuk Tuk are for tourists and it's no longer cheap to get on to one. It cost me around £5 to get to Siam Paragon from Thewes which would be much cheaper if I should take the BTS. But I enjoyed my Tuk Tuk ride - it gave me nostalgic feeling and very up close and personal experience to Bangkok streets.

ในสมัยก่อนตุ๊กตุ๊กเคยเป็นพาหนะของผู้ไม่ค่อยมีอันจะกินที่ไม่มีเงินพอจะขึ้นแท๊กซี่ หรือไม่ก็พวกพ่อค้าแม่ค้าที่ต้องขนของเยอะๆจากตลาด เพราะจะยกของขึ้นลงง่ายกว่า แต่สมัยนี้ตุ๊กตุ๊กเป็นพาหนะสำหรับนักท่องเที่ยวโดยเฉพาะ และก็ไม่ถูกแล้วด้วย แค่ไปสยามพาราก้อนจากเทเวศร์ก็ปาเข้าไปสองร้อยบาท ไปบีทีเอสถูกกว่านี้ แต่ฉันก็อยากขึ้นตุ๊กตุ๊ก เพื่อเป็นการรำลึกถึงบรรยากาศเก่าๆ และได้ประสบการ์ณการเดินทางบนถนนหนทางของกรุงเทพฯ อย่างใกล้ชิด

I've always, always felt sorry for Tuk Tuk drivers. Since I was little, living in Bangkok my mum would only take me in a Tuk Tuk when we had to go somewhere short distances or when there was no choice or we were very late. She thought it was dangerous. And yes, she was right it is dangerous, you have to hold on very tight or you might be flung out of the car. Tuk Tuk drivers are always poor and have sad look - I wish it wasn't the case, I wish it wasn't true. I have some rather sad incidents riding on a Tuk Tuk. One I still remember is when the driver had his little toddler tied up by his seat. He kept saying to him to sit still while the boy was sitting on the floor, fiddling with the rope and trying to make a knot. I felt like taking him to sit with me but it was still dangerous all the same. I remember feeling so sorry for them and I gave the driver some extra money because of that.

นอกไปจากจะไปไหนในระยะทางสั้นๆ หรือไม่มีทางเลือก หรือว่าสายจริงๆ

เพราะว่ามันไม่ปลอดภัย ซึ่งก็จริงนั่นแหละ เวลานั่งตุ๊กตุ๊กต้องเกาะให้แน่นไม่งั่นอาจจะโดนเหวี่ยงหล่นจากรถไปได้  คนขับรถตุ๊กตุ๊กดูน่าสงสาร ฉันได้แต่หวังว่าฉันจะคิดไปเอง มีอยู่ครั้งหนึ่งตอนเป็นวัยรุ่นขึ้นรถตุ๊กตุ๊กแล้วคนขับเอาลูกเล็กๆ ผูกไว้กับที่นั่ง เขาบอกกับเด็กว่าให้นั่งเฉยๆ นั่งดีๆ เด็กก็นั่งกับพื้นผูกเชื่อกเล่นเป็นปม รู้สึกสงสารมากๆ จนต้องให้ตังค์เพิ่มไป

Anyway, no one should feels sad, and riding on a Tuk Tuk should be a fun experience. I did have fun this time - only a little tint of sadness ( I couldn't help it) but I truly enjoyed it. It wasn't too hot in January and the traffic wasn't bad at all. I appreciated being privilege and I felt guilty for that so I was extra nice to the driver - and thanked him sweetly for the safe ride. อย่างไรก็ตามเราไม่ควรจะต้องรู้สึกเศร้าสร้อยและนังรถตุ๊กตุ๊กควรจะได้ประสบการ์ณที่สนุกสนาน และฉันก็สนุกครั้งนี้ แค่รู้สึกเศร้านิดเดียว อากาศก็ไม่ร้อนเท่าไหร่ และรถก็ไม่ติด ฉันก็รู้สึกขอบคุณกับการได้รับสิทธิ์พิเศษนี้ และรู้สึกผิดหน่อยๆ ก็เลยดีกับคนขับเป็นพิเศษและขอบคุณเขาอย่างสุภาพที่มาถึงที่หมายโดยสวัสดิภาพ
