Happy Chinese New Year 2025: Year of the snake ตรุษจีน ปีงูมาแล้วจ้า

Chinese New Year has never meant much until I’ve come to live in the UK - I suppose I used to take it for granted. Being an Indo-Chinese I suppose I'm more to the Chinese since I seem to be drawn more onto Chinese things - either Chinese food, Chinese dramas, Chinese films and Chinese food again. I eat with chopsticks for one thing - something my mum used to get annoyed at. She thought it wasn't posh enough 😁 but I love eating with chopsticks I think it's very neat and clean. ตรุษจีนไม่เคยมีความหมายอะไรนักจนกระทั่งฉันมาอยู่ในสหราชอาณาจักร เป็นไปได้ว่าฉันไม่ได้ให้ความสนใจสิ่งใกล้ตัว เป็นพวกครึ่งอินเดียครึ่งจีนฉันก็เอนๆ ไปทางจีนซะมากกว่าไม่ว่าจะเป็นอาหารจีน ละครจีน หนังจีน ดาราจีน และก็อาหารจีนอีกที ฉันกินข้าวด้วยตะเกียบซึ่งแม่ฉันอดรำคาญไม่ได้ เพราะมันดูไม่หรู แต่ฉันว่าการกินอาหารด้วยตะเกียบง่ายและสะอาดดีออก

Bangkok China Town เยาวราช

Of course, there is nothing special and no one celebrates Chinese New Year here in the little corner of the old Norfolk Countryside - at least no one I know of. But it doesn't matter - it still means something to me. Just a few weeks ago, I visited Bangkok China Town and Oh! it was much, much more colourful than London China Town. ALthough I still prefer eating Chinese in London China Town because it is tastier. The atmosphere though, Bangkok China town is better and overall the winner. ไม่มีชาวบ้านแถวนี้ฉลองตรุษจีน อย่างน้อยก็ชาวบ้านที่ฉันรู้จัก แต่ก็ไม่เป็นไร เพราะมันก็ยังคงมีความหมายต่อฉันอยู่ดี เมื่อสองสามอาทิตย์ที่แล้วฉ้นได้ไปเที่ยวที่เยาวราชและมันก็มีสีสันกว่าที่ลอนดอนตั้งเยอะ แม้อาหารจีนที่ลอนดอนจะอร่อยกว่า แต่บรรยากาศแล้วเยาวราชกินขาดและโดยรวมแล้วก็ชนะขาดลอย

        

        

Traditionally, Chinese people love red colour- everything from decorations to clothing. I, personally will never buy anything red but I do love those red lanterns and decorations, more to look at than to have. It certainly goes together well with all things Chinese.  โดยธรรมเนียมคนจีนชอบสีแดง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นของใช้ของแต่งบ้านเสื้อผ้า โดยส่วนตัวฉันไม่เคยซื้ออะไรที่เป็นสีแดง แต่ฉันก็ชอบเจ้าโคมแดงพวกนั้น ชอบดูมากกว่าอยากได้ มันเข้ากันได้ดี้ดีกับอะไรที่เป็นจีนๆ

      

       

In a way, I've never felt I am one thing or another. I've always loved the way I am which is bits of everything. I was born in Bangkok, ethnically Thai, Indian-Chinese and I live in the UK. I love good people, world culture and food from all over the world. So whether who you are, where you live - I wish you a Happy Chinese New Year and Happy every year, every day  จะว่าไปแล้ว ฉันไม่เคยรู้สึกว่าตัวเองเป็นอะไรอย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ชอบมาตลอดตรงที่ว่าตัวเองเป็นส่วนผสมของทุกอย่าง เกิดที่กรุงเทพ เป็นคนไทยที่มีเชื้อสายจีนปนอินเดีย และอาศัยอยู่ที่ประเทศอังกฤษ ฉันชอบคนดี วัฒนธรรมของทุกประเทศ และอาหาร ดังนั้นไม่ว่าคุณจะเป็นใครมาจากไหนก็ขอให้มีความสุขวันตรุษจีนนะคะ มีความสุขทุกวันทุกปีเลย
