A friend's house บ้านของเพื่อน

I'm a minimalist or at least I try to be. Still, I admire pretty things. Since I've stopped buying, collecting things I love going to other people's house and admire what they've got in their collections. My friend has a lovely house not far from the sea. It's a converted chapel. So, it's very unique and quirky but cosy and comfortable. My friend is a collector or she calls herself a hoarder 😁 I don't know if I agree with that. She certainly has eyes for pretty little things and she decorates her house very nicely, I can't help but admire it. She was very chuffed about it and said she was pleased to see me so interested in her old junk. 😂
Well, the house is part of a big old house which has been converted into several flats. As I mentioned, hers used to be a chapel. It's really for a bachelor or a couple as it has one small bedroom with an en-suite. This, I'm told, used to be a cloakroom.  It's only big enough to fit a single bed - or perhaps a double bed if pushed. It has a nice fitted ceiling to floor cupboard on one wall. The bathroom is quite tiny and there is no room for a bath so there is only a walking shower and not much room for anything else. But to me, it's absolutely fine though I love my bath though- there is nothing like having a long, hot bath on a cold day or at the end of the day after a hard day work.
The kitchen used to be the hallway from the main house to the chapel so it's long and narrow. It's not really wide enough for a dining table, not even a small one. Perhaps it would be okay with the folded to the wall one. I love that she makes the use of every inch of the space with fitted wall cupboards as she has a lot of stuff. As it's not very big so I has lovely cosy feel about it. It's quite cluttered for a kitchen but it's not messy and everything has been arranged very nicely so it gives a very homely vibe. There is one good sized window at one end of the kitchen which throw in a lot of light. It's surprising how a window can make such a different to the room!

The living room has a high oak bean ceiling. It's in an oblong shape but the high ceiling makes it feel very

spacious. It has a fireplace which has been blocked and replaced by an electric mock wood burner radiator. it looks very inviting for special guests.
The area which is used the most is the conservatory.
There are many pot plants and nice, comfy wicker chairs with nice cushion to sit in. Also, a big dining room table where my friend normally sits and has her meals. It's also where casual guests in to have a chat and a cup of tea when they visit. This room is very light and surprisingly cosy. There are a couple of Walsh dressers which have interesting odd things on display. There is the biggest money plant I've ever seen at one corner. Every chair looks inviting and comfortable - I fancy sitting in everyone of them, pretending it was my house.  I'd love to live in this quirky little house though I wouldn't want to clean it.
When I ask her how to keep it clean. She replied simply, "Oh no, I don't clean it, dearie. We don't

really get a lot of dust here." How nice! In this case, this house definitely suits me fine. But I'm sure it's her being humble and kind. She is certainly kind and allowed me to have a snoop around her house and takes a browse at the stuff, telling me the story behind them. I could take a whole day listening and poking around. It's a lovely change of atmosphere and gives me an inspiration so when I come home I quickly hoovering and dusting my house and after that I feel exhausted even though I don't even have half of her stuff 😁 How other people keep their home nice and tidy all the time I will never know.
